thot on perception
a continued thought on perception ~
our perceptions about things, ourselves, Life, etc. are directly related to the tone of our Nervous Systems. like a guitar, as the tone or tension of our Nervous System is altered, so is the expression of our “music”, or experience and perceptions of Life.
of course, the experiences we’ve had in life have the potential to dictate how we view current happenings. often, our beliefs about the world and ourselves are shaped in that way and occupy space within us. like the grooves and depths of a river accumulate over time, so do the patterns that our Nervous Systems consciously and unconsciously accumulate.
if we were once told (and maybe continually told) that we are not good enough, pretty enough, smart enough ~ insert any _____ enough ~ our systems allow that to occupy the mind and, subsequently/reciprocally, our physical structure.
so how do we shift perception? how do we begin to work with our orientation to life?
it begins simply with observation ~ noticing what we notice, taking an active participatory role in our experience of Life and the stream of actions and reactions that ensue. simple doesn’t always mean easy ~ it takes effort to become more present at first.
when we begin to bring attention to something that we wish to change, something is activated within us and things begin to shift naturally, though sometimes there is a continued active participation and discipline.
Chiropractic in practice and as an orientation to Life, in essence, is about attention ~ bringing attention to that which has occupied “space” within, keeping us from knowing the fullness of ourSelves. of course, we can’t change what’s happened in the past, but we can create space to experience life differently NOW.
