December book of the month

I really enjoyed being able to share about Breath last month. If you were able to read it since our last email (major props), my hope is that it was constructive and left you with some practices to deepen your connection and awareness with the breath and your body.  If you did, please feel free to reach out with questions or insights or things you’ve discovered about yourself in doing so; I’d love to hear about it.

This month I’m highlighting the Alchemist, by Paulo Coehlo.

If you haven’t had the chance to read this one, go ahead and run over to your local Half Priced Books and pick it up. This one is for the seeker and is really aligned with this season that we’re moving into; looking within and recuperation. Yes, it is categorized as “fiction”, but it’s a beautiful mirror for what so many of us have experienced and continue to experience in life as we navigate our true callings and journeys back to the heart. The main character goes on the journey of navigating synchronicities, trust, and following his intuitive heart. It’s a quick read, but can be a potent catalyst for change if you’re ready.

I’ll add that this book is wonderful expression of what Chiropractic’s ultimate goal is: to put us back in touch with the inherent Wisdom within us and all things. How many times have we felt called to follow something that we just “knew” or “felt” that was right for us - relationships, jobs, nourishment, movement, etc.? How many of those experiences did you “follow” all the way to the end of the intuitive “thread”?

The Alchemist reminds us that our spontaneous inclinations and heart-felt desires are meaningful and should be fully explored, even if we end up changing course at the end. Sometimes our only job is to follow - to be a servant of the heart.

If you’re in a season of seeking or are experiencing a deep yearning for “more”, this one is for you.
